THe MindUP lessons themselves can be worked smoothly into a daily routine and require minimal teacher preparation. The MindUP core practices can become a staple routine for the opening and closing of each school day as well as at the moments of transition: settling down after recess, waiting for lunch, moving from one subject to the next.

The concepts and vocabulary associated with MindUP will expand the scope of students’ thinking in all academic disciplines. The MindUP program was developed not only to expand students’ social and emotional awareness but also to improve their academic performance. Published by Scholastic Press – it comprises three age- appropriate books: Pre-school – Primary Grade 2 Primary Grades 3 – 5 Primary Grade 6 – High School Year 8 Moshi couldn’t be more excited to have Goldie the Mindful Moshling exploring the Moshi universe and bringing her MindUP pillars to our world. The MindUP Curriculum: Brain-Focused Strategies for Learning – and Living was developed by the Hawn Foundation: It is a comprehensive, classroom-tested, evidence-based curriculum framed around 15 easily implemented lessons that foster social and emotional awareness, enhance psychological wellbeing and promote academic success. Goldie the Mindful Moshling is the Moshi world’s embodiment of the values of MindUP, as through her journey she learns about optimism, connection, positivity, and kindness. Teachers and students have reported increases in pro-social behaviors and emotion regulation. MindUP provides easily adaptable lessons for any subject matter. Studies have shown that students who participate in the MindUP program have an increase in optimism as well as improvements in attention and concentration. Each lesson offers strategies for helping students build resilience to stress, focus their attention, and develop a positive mindset in school and life. It also provides resources for families to continue learning these life lessons at home. MindUP provides a lesson-based approach to social-emotional learning in schools for children ages preschool through Grade 8. As Goldie the Mindful Moshling explores the Tree of Mindfulness, she encounters the qualities that MindUP focuses on – compassion, love, respect, and kindness – and learns from her fellow Moshlings why adding mindfulness to your day even gradually can make a positive impact long term. Focusing on the four pillars of neuroscience, social-emotional learning, positive psychology, and mindful awareness, MindUP strives to help children with happier, healthier balance at school and at home. The Goldie Hawn Foundation, in collaboration with neuroscientists, behavioral psychologists, educators, and leading researchers in the field of SEL, founded MindUP in 2003 with the goal of helping children develop the mental fitness necessary to thrive in school and throughout their lives. Hawn and her little Moshling care deeply about mindfulness, making this partnership particularly exciting.
